Movie buffs to share in profits of latest project by Lara Croft director Simon West

Film fans will be able to share in the profits of the latest project by British director Simon West, the man behind Hollywood hits including Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Expendables 2. West, whose films have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, has raised £10 million fundraising for his new film, Salty, of which £1.8 million has been raised via crowdfunding platform Syndicate Room. For the first time, investors will be able to share in the profits made by the film.

Salty is slated to start shooting later this year, with producers currently casting the film. Actors and production staff will also be given equity in the movie.

West said: ‘I am delighted to have achieved this world first by selling shares in my new film directly to investors, the movie-going fans themselves. ‘Now it’s up to me to make a great film and repay their support with great returns.’ His latest film Wild Card, which stars Jason Statham and Sofia Vergara, opens next weekend.
